Courses Offered

Basic Aid Training (B.A.T.)

             The BAT program is designed for children who are 8 to 10 years old. This course teaches basic skills and knowledge necessary for children to identify and prevent potentially harmful situations. This program emphasizes prevention to highlight its importance in reducing injuries. Upon completion participants will receive a Putnam County Red Cross Recognition Award for the completion of Basic Aid Training, signed by the executive director of the Putnam County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

F.A.C.T.

                 F.A.C.T. is an acronym for First Aid for Children Today. This class is designed for children 5 to 7 years old and teaches children “Safe Habits” at home, school, and at friends. Upon completion participants will receive a Putnam County Red Cross Recognition Award for the completion of First Aid for Children Today, signed by the executive director of the Putnam County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Babysitting

                 The purpose of the American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course is to provide ALL youth ages 11 to 15 with information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents or guardians. This training will help participant develop skills in leadership and professionalism, basic care, safety and safe play and first aid. Upon completion participants will receive a Putnam County Red Cross Recognition Award for the completion of Babysitting Training signed by the executive director of the Putnam County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Sports Safety Training

             The Purpose of the American Red Cross Sports Safety Training program is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to help provide a safe environment for athletes while they are participating in sports and, in an emergency, to help sustain life and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until advanced medical help arrives. Upon successful completion participants will receive an American Red Cross Sports Safety Recognition Card. 

Lifeguard Training

             The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course is to teach lifeguard candidates the skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare candidates to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries. Upon successful completion participants will receive an American Red Cross certificate in Lifeguard Training/First Aid (3 yrs.) and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (1yr.)

Guard Start

             American Red Cross GuardStart: Life guarding Tomorrow is a program designed to guide youth to the American Red Cross Life guarding program by building a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills for future lifeguards. This foundation consists of five  categories: Prevention, Fitness, Response, Leadership, and professionalism. Upon completion participants will receive a Putnam County Red Cross Recognition Award for the completion of the GuardStart Training Program, signed by the executive director of the Putnam County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

 

  Community First Aid & Safety       

                 The goal of this nine hour course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary in an emergency to call for help, to keep someone alive, to reduce pain and to minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until advanced emergency medical help arrives. Upon successful completion participants will receive  an American Red Cross certificate in Community First Aid & Safety (3yrs.) Adult/Child/Infant CPR (1yr.)

 

Community CPR

             The goal of this six hour course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and respond to respiratory emergencies for adults, children and infants. Upon successful completion participants will receive  an American Red Cross certificate in Community CPR (1yr.)

Adult CPR (only)

             The purpose of this four hour American Red Cross Adult CPR course is to give individuals in the work place the knowledge and skills necessary to recognized and provide basic care for breathing emergencies until advanced medical personnel arrive an take over. Upon successful completion participants will receive an American Red Cross certificate in Adult CPR (1yr.)

First Aid & Adult CPR

             The goal of this eight hour American Red Cross First Aid & Adult CPR course is to give individuals in the workplace and home the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses, such as cardiac arrest, until advanced medical personal arrive and take over. Upon successful completion participants will receive an American Red Cross certificate in First Aid (3 yrs) and Adult CPR (1yr.)

AED (Automated External Defibrillation)

             The objectives of this 80 minute class is to obtain knowledge in links in the Cardiac Chain of Survival, what defibrillation is and how it works; the role of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in cardiac arrest;  the general steps for the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and precautions when using an AED.  

                                                    First Aid

             The purpose of this five hour American Red Cross course is to give participants in the workplace and at home the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic first aid care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive to take over. This course does not include information on breathing or cardiac emergencies. Upon successful completion participants will receive an American Red Cross certificate in First Aid (3 yrs)
